C & C in France Paris Mission

 Week Seven

May 21-27, 2023

Wow! What an adventure!!!

We prepared to go north to Normandy again.  We took the Metro to the REI Train, then walked to the Paris Mission Office to pick up the car which is parked on the 2nd floor in the deep, dark basement.  The elevator is quite tricky to get in and our of, and feels more like the size of an old phone booth that Super Man used to change his closes in! We found the car, loaded up, and off we headed.

Craig drives so well among all the winding, crazy to follow streets, round-a-bouts, in and out exits almost every few blocks until we get out of the city.  I navigate from google maps - how people got around before GPS is a miracle to me.  These streets are so unpredictable as are the cars, trucks, bikers, motorcycles, scooters, and pedestrians.  It's a good thing that dogs are on leaches around here and that other animals don't dart into the road- at least we haven't experienced any yet.

We had amazing experiences in Normandy.  I have been preparing for a concert and we had our final rehearsal in Le Havre and concert the following evening.

Elder Seube, a fabulous viola player, Soeur McConkie, our wonderful pianist, and I performed a concert on Friday May 26th in Le Havre, France.  It was my first concert here in France! It was well attended and extremely well received.  We played Brahms, Schubert, Ravel, some beautiful hymns in French, an English song. Soeur Seube gave a spoken presentation on Joseph Smith that was beautifully done.  After the concert, several people came up to me in tears and thanked us for the music.  We were so grateful for the strong spirit that was there.

Craig was a great support to me and others.  He helped with setting up food, chairs, driving and welcoming the people who came.

The next day, we had the opportunity to see more of the Normandy coast and drive back to Paris. We saw many beautiful sights along the coast.

                                                        Ethetat Cliffs that Monet painted

                                                               Fishing village - 10th Century!

As we end our week, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve in France.  Our thought for the week:

"For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Our Savior is there for each one of us, and we are so grateful for Him.

We love and miss you all!
