C & C in France Paris Mission

 Week Nine

June 5-11, 2023

What a beautiful experience it is to be here in Paris.  Every day is a new adventure.

We spent the day on Tuesday traveling and attending the Paris Temple.  It is a beautiful temple- so elegant and regal- and the gardens are lovely with blooming flowers of many colors and variety.  The spirit is so strong there - inside and outside in the gardens -  and the Visitor's Center is well done as well.

As we entered the Temple, we were greeted by the ordinance workers in French.  We requested to hear the endowment in English on headphones but found ourselves taking them off and beginning to understand the French. What a blessing!

This week the Stained Glass Exhibit created by Holdman Studios came to an end.  It has been well received by many visitors - over 3,500.  It was great to meet so many people who came to see it. All came away edified. It is beautifully done and has a strong spirit about it and tells many of the stories of Jesus Christ while he was on the earth.

On Friday, we attended our first Zone Conference.  I was asked to sing "Savior Redeemer of My Soul."  Elder Seube played viola and Sister McConkie played the piano.  We were asked to perform at the end of the conference.  People were in tears and the spirit was so strong.  I was so grateful for this opportunity to share this beautiful song and message.

Craig took me on a date to Bartok's opera "Bluebeard's Castle" at the Opera Bastille.  It was a very good performance.  Brian Turfel sang Bluebeard and    sang Judith.  During the performance, memories came back of the performance I sang in San Franciso's Symphony Hall with Kent Nagano conducting.  The music came flooding back to me immediately - entrances, pitches, expression, etc.   And when the high C came, I immediately felt in my body how to do this! Extraordinary that your body remembers how to create these high notes even years later.

As the Stained Glass Exhibit came to a close on Sunday and went on to tour in Italy, I felt so grateful that we were able to be here to see it, and partake of the feeling of the spirit that it has, and as it testifies of the life of Christ.  What an incredible example our Savior is to us all.

Our thought this week is to testify that "He lives!"
Jesus Christ is who he said he was.  We are so grateful for his life, his example, his atonement and resurrection, and continued guidance and inspiration in our lives.  How we love him.

We send our love to each of you and again thank you for your prayers in our behalf.
