C & C in France Paris Mission

 Week 14

July 15-22, 2023

Craig and I continue to serve in the Paris Family Search Center and assist patrons with their family trees.  We continue to work on our Book of Mormon Firesides and French. We have found a new app that is wonderful and works with spoken programs with the wonderful grammar book that we are using.

On Wednesday, we were called into the Center for a special meeting with the Mission President and his wife.  They had an "opportunity" come up and wanted to discuss it with us.  It would involve a move to Brussels, Belgium, which is in our mission.

After discussing their needs with a senior couple in Belgium, it was unanimously decided that it would be best for us to stay in Paris.  Craig was assigned, though, to assist with some of the Belgium legal paperwork in behalf of the missionaries who will be serving in Belgium.  He will get signatures, send letters, and get all the documents ready to go here in Paris and then send them to a representative in Brussels.  It's wonderful how the work continues and how there are so many really qualified senior missionaries, like Craig, to assist the work move forward.

This week he has been busy learning the ropes and details that have to be done. Next week, he will be on his own with support from a couple in Belgium who arrives at the end of the month.

Craig really enjoys serving the missionaries and we hope that we will be able to visit Brussels in the near future - perhaps in August - just to make sure that everything goes smoothly.

Brussels is only 3 hours away by car, and  it would be great to see another country.

I have been working hard on my French grammar and speaking French.  It takes a lot of practice!

It always amazes us how little babies and young children seem to learn the language spoken at home so easily.  Craig and I laugh together as we hear children in the parks speaking so clearly and well as we struggle along,   But we are determined to learn this beautiful language.  We really want to speak with and understand the people here.

We also are being trained more in depth as to how to do family genealogical research by Soeur Scheuermann.  She is wonderful and we are learning so much from her. We have been training several people so that if and when it is needed, we will have people who can step in and assist us.

Our thought this week is about genealogy.

We are so grateful that prophets, teachers, apostles, all those voices in the scriptures, voiced and wrote down geneology was written down in the scriptures.  The Bible, Book of Mormon,  and many family linages were written from prophets of old in these sacred scriptures.  Today, our modern day prophets continue to cncourage us all to keep a daily journal and write our individual stories down.

It makes sense that records has been kept from the beginning and is available to all of God's children.

We hope and pray for all of you and hope you all are keeping your journals updated.

We love and miss you!
