Week Six May 14-20, 2034 A typical Sunday We started out the week with our French Speaking Sacrament Meeting at 10:00 A. M. So many people from all over the world are there. Paris truly is the melting pot of all nationalities and cultures.  It amazes me how many different kinds of people come each week - the ward members, but many visitors.  Different BYU Study Abroad groups come in each week.  This week they were studying French business practices. Other weeks it has been Culinary Study of Mediterranean Diets, Fashion Design, French Culture Studies - such a variety of educated students join us each week. At 11:00 AM we go to the J's Class (Young Single Adults 18-30 yrs old).  Two weeks in a row, Craig taught the class in English and a student translated what he said into French.  There were some that spoke Spanish too, and other languages as well.  It is wonderful meeting so many different cultures in one room! At  12:30 PM is an English speakin...

Week Five May 7-13, 2023 We are spending more time now at the Paris Family Search Center.  Soeur Scheurerman and her husband are heading it up and are doing a terrific job.  We assist them with meals for Monday's Family Home Evening, some family history assistance, and are learning so much from them.                                                           Soeur Scheurermann in the courtyard by the Chapel                             We are finding our way still around Paris and how to use the Metro, buses and trains. It is a world so different than the world of driving a car.  Mass transit works here, but it is really crowded at times - so many people in this international city.  You can hear 10 different lan...

The colors from the stained glass windows streamed down onto my face.  The stories were of Jesus Christ and the heavens above.                                               The smell of old incense permeates these ancient cathedrals. Onto the Palace of Versailles Versailles is the home of three French Kings:  Louise the 13th, 14th, and 5th.  This palace that housed these kings and their families makes it clear why the peasants and poor people of France revolted against such lavish and expensive living and lifestyles.  The last king, Louise the 15th, was beheaded in 1789 not far from where we live in Paris.  The thing that strikes me is that for centuries - including no...
